With this new GPS based system you will have the perfect electric steering experience. With the GPS antenna / sensor included in this Kit the electric steering system will always know the exact speed of your vehicle. So, you will have your steering working as a factory system where you have the maximum steering assistance when vehicle stopped and you have the minimum steering assistance at higher speeds. And while you increase your speed the steering will decrease its assistance.
Very easy to install. Only need to connect ground and 12 Volts to our Kit. This new GPS controller Kit doesn´t use an adjustment knob, because the GPS antenna will always know the vehicle speed and adjust the steering according to it.
We developed this Kit to also allow the user to make diagnosis to our controller to know if the GPS antenna is getting accurate Vehicle speed. In some cases if the user wants to adjust the system we also included a simple way to do it. Everything explained in the instructions included.

- Electric power steering uses an electric motor to assist the steering. A computer module (ECU) receives information from several sensors and decides which level of assistance the electric motor should deliver to the steering. When you install an electric steering column from Saturn Vue or Chevrolet Equinox to your vehicle it won´t work because the ECU doesn´t receives information. That´s why you need this controller unit. It sends information to the ECU according to the vehicle speed obteined by the GPS sensor.
- What happens if the GPS unit losses satellite signal, such as entering a tunnel or a underground carpark? If the GPS losses the signal, for example on a tunnel or a carpark, the system will keep the last know vehicle speed. So, for example if you enter a tunnel at 80km/h and the GPS losses the signal it will keep this vehicle speed of 80km/h until it get accurate GPS signal again. Normally you enter an underground carpark at a low speed (10 to 30 km/h) so it will keep this speed value too.
This controller box will fit steering columns from:
- Saturn Vue - from 2002 to 2007
- Chevrolet Equinox - from 2005 to 2007 (in case of doubt please send us a photo of your steering column).
- Pontiac Torrent - from 2005 to 2007 (in case of doubt please send us a photo of your steering column).
- Saturn Ion - from 2003 to 2006 - only in steering column with metal ECU case.
Please check second and third image of this ad. As you can see the ECU has a metal case.
Some Saturn ION steering´s have a black ECU case. This controller will not work on that steering. You should find a steering with a metal ECU case.
- First you need to find an used electric steering column in a scrap yard.
- Then you must adapt that steering column in your car.
- Then you must buy this controller box and follow instruction procedure.
- Finally you have power steering in your car !
In these steering columns the ECU (electronic box) is mounted in the steering column. It is possible to remove ECU from that place and install it in other place. With this modification it will be easier to adapt the steering column to your car. For those who buy this controller box I will give for free a guide to remove ECU from steering column to allow install it in other place.
These steering columns can have two problems:
- It can be slightly softer to turn left than right (or the opposite).
- When you turn steering wheel, the steering system can turn off without explanation.
These two problems are easily repairable. You don´t need to spend money to solve them. For those who buy this controller box will have for free a guide to solve these two problems.
